Thirty-Fourth Hex [Voice/Action]

[Draco Malfoy was starting to go a bit stir-crazy. After four straight days of snow, then cold, then more snow, and more cold, he had realized that staying in the confines of House 25 wasn't doing him any good. Hence today he's decided to head to the Battle Dome and test his programming skills. He's gotten pretty good at it, he likes to think.

When his journal clicks on, anyone viewing it will get a good glance of the front of a large manor.]

So...you really can recreate anything, can't you. [He's going to go ahead and walk down the path toward the front door of the house, and as he enters into the front hall he's going to continue talking to the village at large. This may just be a test to see if he can continue communication inside a simulation.]

How are the rest of you coping with the snow we've received over the last few days? I'd like a few back-up plans in case this doesn't serve to satisfy. At least when it was warm I could fly a bit, but this is starting to get ridiculous.

[And he's going to turn down the halls, wandering through the maze that is the manor with the ease of someone so familiar with the area. There are the sounds of other footsteps behind him, but if he hears them he doesn't seem to care.]

What's next, anyway? They've left us alone for a while...may as well start to prepare for something big to come. What are the chances they've grown bored with us? New Feathers. You might be the next targets. You ought to have a fair warning.

[His attention's drawn away from the journal then as the footsteps stop, and he finds himself facing a masked figure.] I was wondering when you'd turn up. [And he's withdrawing his wand, closing the journal. Though the picture's no longer available, the last thing heard is the sound of a spell firing off and ricocheting around the room.

[Though he'll stay in the chamber for the full allotted hour, he will be taking a break between enemies appearing and after his hour's up to answer anyone who's contacted him via journals. People are also free to find him in the main lobby of the Battle Dome as well after his simulation's over.]

I want to put a bell collar on him while he's a dragon, but also have it fit while he's a human. Know any spells that might work?

...[Give him a moment, he's just going to be laughing himself to tears.]

You're joking. Like an actual collar? I might have a few ideas.

An actual collar. Something stylish. Black, maybe?

With a silver bell that rings with every step. I think I've got just the thing...just have to make sure it won't choke him. [If Draco can charm twin neck chains that bite, he can easily charm a Giles-collar.]

Perfect. And if you could make it so only I can take it off, that would be great too.

Not even Helios, huh? [He's plotting. All sorts of magical plottings.] How long do you suspect he'll be a dragon?

Not even Helios. I don't doubt he'd get a kick out of it, but I think Giles can go a day with the collar on. As for that... no idea. Your guess is as good as mine.

I'll put a rush on it. Should I make one for the rest of your housemates as well? [Even if she says no, he might do it anyway just because he finds it funny.]

No, I think it'll be okay. Helios is okay about staying out of trouble and I have faith in Adele. [As for herself... well, her track record isn't that bad.]

And you? [Sorry, Miss Solana. Draco doesn't quite trust you to your own devices.]

I will be fine without a collar.

I really have no reason to worry about you, I suppose. [But he does, on and off.]

Besides, right now I have a dragon protecting me.

At this point I have to be a bit paranoid about everyone I know, even the ones I know that can take care of themselves. [Case in point, he still worries about Caroline on and off.] You understand.

I do. I know Giles and Helios and everyone can take care of themselves, probably better than I can take care of them, but I worry and watch out for them.

My best friends are a dead empath and a witch, and my girlfriend's a vampire, and they're the people I worry about more than anyone in this world. So...why is that?

My best friends know magic and can teleport and bring snow creatures to life and throw fireballs around like nothing, my boyfriend trained vampire slayers and has an incredible wealth of knowledge, and I worry more about them because why? Because I care and they're important to me.

Never lose sight of the people important to you.

Got it. It's just...strange, I guess. [Draco is still mastering the art of friendship, don't mind him.] But I suppose that's as good a lesson as any.

Sometimes we make friends with the strangest or most unexpected people. You can't predict these things.

You have to remember I come from a world where I spent 15 years of my life predicting everything. Not exactly easy to reverse that sort of thinking.

And I've spent the last eight years or so trying to control everything. It all takes a bit of getting used to.
