hisdarkmark | Thirty-Fourth Hex [Voice/Action]

[Draco Malfoy was starting to go a bit stir-crazy. After four straight days of snow, then cold, then more snow, and more cold, he had realized that staying in the confines of House 25 wasn't doing him any good. Hence today he's decided to head to the Battle Dome and test his programming skills. He's gotten pretty good at it, he likes to think.

When his journal clicks on, anyone viewing it will get a good glance of the front of a large manor.]

So...you really can recreate anything, can't you. [He's going to go ahead and walk down the path toward the front door of the house, and as he enters into the front hall he's going to continue talking to the village at large. This may just be a test to see if he can continue communication inside a simulation.]

How are the rest of you coping with the snow we've received over the last few days? I'd like a few back-up plans in case this doesn't serve to satisfy. At least when it was warm I could fly a bit, but this is starting to get ridiculous.

[And he's going to turn down the halls, wandering through the maze that is the manor with the ease of someone so familiar with the area. There are the sounds of other footsteps behind him, but if he hears them he doesn't seem to care.]

What's next, anyway? They've left us alone for a while...may as well start to prepare for something big to come. What are the chances they've grown bored with us? New Feathers. You might be the next targets. You ought to have a fair warning.

[His attention's drawn away from the journal then as the footsteps stop, and he finds himself facing a masked figure.] I was wondering when you'd turn up. [And he's withdrawing his wand, closing the journal. Though the picture's no longer available, the last thing heard is the sound of a spell firing off and ricocheting around the room.

[Though he'll stay in the chamber for the full allotted hour, he will be taking a break between enemies appearing and after his hour's up to answer anyone who's contacted him via journals. People are also free to find him in the main lobby of the Battle Dome as well after his simulation's over.]

More then people think I do. I know what she can do and what she's capable of. I know how she acts, I've seen the footage of her. And I know what... purpose, she functions.

Here? I know she's made friends, picked up a few skills, and has apparently heeded my advice in getting out and being nice.

[Whoops, sorry, he should have thought about making a filter himself. But he's silent for a moment as he takes that all in.]

I wouldn't call it too nice, though she did let me retrieve my owl. Have you ever corresponded with her, or is that physically impossible?

I'm glad you got your owl back. I don't think he liked me much. Kept flying away from me.

Physically impossible, it's why we leave notes for each other. More so here, I try to get her up to speed.

...Generally, someone with dissociative identity disorder isn't aware of the personalities. We only know of each other because of treatment and... well, when someone shows you videos, you make choices in believing things.

He doesn't seem to like much. He's finicky, but I think I'll keep him anyway. Maybe I can train him.

His speed or sense of direction need work, but he did arrive at the house. [Three weeks later.]

I'd be lying if I said it didn't. Missing time, not knowing what's happened. Yet... [Her voice cracks slight and she has to pause and swallow.] sometimes I don't want to know.

Wild animals aren't nearly as smart as the trained owls, but I suppose I can't blame him too much.

Any bright ideas then? I've no idea how to train an owl.

Why can't floating be an option?

Positive reinforcement? Work on flying between short distances and rewarding, then moving to farther distances?

You don't get anywhere if you float, just wherever the waves take you.

Sounds like I'll have to get a bunch of dead mice then. Lovely.

And why is that so bad? I've come to find that some of us have been swimming the wrong way right into the sharks.

Maybe you can get him to like ground beef.

Because it's who I am. I can't drift aimlessly anymore. I take action, I make decisions, and even if I run into sharks, I survive.

[And at the same time, he's analyzing Ginia while trying to figure out the likelihood of her ever feeling 100% safe along with a lot of things that aren't really his business but it's all so fascinating in the strangest way possible.]

Well, technically heard is the better word. I do go through the journal, especially what comes out of this one.

But she said you two talked, that you picked up your owl, and there were presents waiting on the table when I was back. Is there anything else you care to share with me?

...not if I don't have to, no. [If only because he's a bit nervous she might be mad that he prodded. Prodding Ginia is one thing. Prodding Alice is another.]

No, but I'm sure she wanted to at one point.

If you really want to know, I just asked her questions about her existence.

[Ginia gives a drawn-out sigh. Lovely. He poked the hornet's nest.]

That is always a dangerous question to ask.

Yeah, you could have warned me about that. But I got some answers from her, sort of.

Sometimes I hope you're smart enough to know when to back off.

Enough that I won't be asking her questions again, yes. [Yeah, he's not touching that other statement with a ten-foot pole.]
