[As usual, Draco has once again gone and made himself scarce from a majority of the village as he works out more of his inner dilemmas. First and foremost, there's Hermione. She's most definitely, definitely not the same Hermione and it's freaking him out.

Secondly, he's officially given up on searching for Caroline Forbes. After running into other vampires...it's safe to say the blonde will never show up again.

And thirdly...? Even with his power, even with his abilities to turn into a coyote or produce patronuses or blow things up, he's finding it isn't enough to make him happy.

Recently he's returned from a mission, but he couldn't help but constantly think about the last experiment. He'd been convinced he was someone else, and he had absolutely no memories of who he really was...and it was nice. He was able to function like a normal human being again. Normally, he would make an elaborate announcement about his return, but this time...well, he's already pieced together what's happened in the village, and he's not sorry he's missed the tornado. No, instead he's entirely focused on what he's determined to find out. When he opens his journal, he's only got one sentence he'd like to share.]

What do you reckon it takes to bargain with our captors to permanently erase memories? Just curious.

So they can do that? Take your memories?

That's what we're going to find out. I don't see why not if they're capable of making us think we're entirely different people.

I suppose that's true. If you can do one the other can't be much harder. Not that I would know much about that kind of magic.

It's a type of magic I'm not as skilled in, otherwise I'd do it myself. [Or rather, he'd obliviate himself if he could assure he could just do it to certain parts of his brain.]

Would it leave you the same person, you think? If you could just forget that certain things happened.

Why not? I highly doubt it would alter my other memories or my personality. Memories can't be that deeply seated in a person, can they?

I think it depends on the memory. Some events change you, and how can that change remain if you can't remember what made it happen? Why, perhaps, you wanted it to happen?

Hence the point. I don't want the changes to remain.

So in a sense you don't want to be yourself anymore?

Precisely that. I don't like the direction I've taken, so I'm restarting.

What's wrong with your current direction?

It's not the one I was supposed to take. It's not one that's going to benefit me once I get back.

Possibly, but not enough. [He didn't mind it up until everyone left and it got too hard.]

Will you remember what happened here when you get back though?

I've reason to believe I might remember some of it, yeah. And that's enough to convince me I have to fix it before I leave.

It seems pretty risky.

Maybe a risk is what I need in this place.

I guess it can be good for you sometimes.

It can't be much worse than sitting and wondering what would happen if I didn't bother at all.

You'd have to make sure you figure out how to lose the right things, or I'd say it could get rather a lot worse.

I've got my wants laid out and set in stone. Once I figure out how to bargain with them? Then I'll ask.

Wouldn't want to forget how to do the basic things after all.

I think they'd really have to destroy me in order to have me forget how to walk and talk. I wouldn't be too worried.

Don't say I didn't try to warn you when you end up forgetting how to put your shirt on the right way around.
