Fortieth Hex - [Written/Action]
[When he first opens his eyes, he's immediately blinded by the sunlight and he hisses loudly, rolling over in the dirt to shield his eyes. He doesn't move for a moment, barely bothering to take in what was going on. It was obvious he was back. His clothes were still torn and disgusting from the last draft, and he had a few dried scabs on his arms, but otherwise...he seemed fine.
Sitting up, he gropes around the area for his journal to check the date.
Shit. Just how long was death supposed to last in this place? He supposed it wasn't too entirely unusual, considering how long Arumat was gone when he had been murdered. He adjusts himself on the ground, shifting the way he's sitting and reaching in his pocket for a pen. The writing is scratchy and scrawled, but the words are legible.]
So that's what it's like.
[He doesn't care. He doesn't care to read through everything and find out what he's missed. He's on his feet and carefully walking toward house 25, already knowing that Tsuzuki and Hisoka were waiting for him and most likely could kill him again for being dead for so long.
The thing was, however, was that he couldn't figure it out. He couldn't seem to wrap his mind around what he's lost as a penalty. Maybe he got lucky and they didn't take anything at all. That would be nice, wouldn't it? But it seemed highly unlikely, especially considering the nagging in the back of his mind that something was missing. He'd just have to work it out later.
Hmm...hello house 26. You seem awfully familiar, and not in the way that it was the house some of Draco's friends live in now. He used to spend a lot of time in that house, didn't he?
No. Maybe not. He couldn't imagine why he would...must be mistaken.
It isn't until he's almost at his front door that he takes his journal again, scrawling out a few more words.]
...am I the last one to come back then? Suppose they really do save the best for the end.

[Action because <3]
This isn't what you want, Hisoka. You don't want to look back on this and realize you pushed your best friend away, just because he was feeling depressed.
[Action because <3]
I don't bother having regrets. It's a waste of time. [Regrets are for private broody times never to be shared.]
[Action because <3]
[He runs his fingers through the hair at the nape of his partner's neck. It's the kind of casual caresses he doesn't think that much about. He catches himself halfway though it, drawing his hand back and placing it around his shoulders instead.]
I don't think he tried to hurt you on purpose.
[Action] Ty I still feel bad about hanging out in your post. We can take it to appointments?
[He leans back into Tsuzuki's hand, thoroughly all right with being coddled when things are this crappy.]
[Action] let us know if we should move, Ty
[He sighs, wondering if his partner is able to imagine the consequences of what he does. Sometimes he wonders if he can't.]
He's your best friend. Doesn't that count for something?
[Action] plurk!ty says we're fine
It did until he left. I'm not going to chase after someone who left.[Tsuzuki stayed. So clearly Tsuzuki is the superlative option.]
[Action] I saw it <3
[So he tries not to think about it too much, either. He knows that his partner will hurt if he manages to push away his friend, so that's what he's focusing on.]
You're only punishing yourself. You know you'll be miserable without him.
[Action] She's a bro
[Does Tsuzuki want him to instigate cuddles? Because THERE CAN BE CUDDLES. >|]
[Action]
[If there is cuddles, it will only make Tsuzuki worried that Hisoka's more hurt by this than he tries to let on. That kind of activities are not on his mind right now, because the Draco situation is currently his top priority (and mixing his own feelings with that is a recipe for disaster).]
[Action]
I don't want to talk about this. Can't we just sit somewhere and calm down?
[Action]
[It doesn't take much for him to get that hint, scooting backwards until the back of his legs hit Hisoka's bed. It's as good a place to sit as any.]
[Action]
Always does. It's been a while since I had to create a barrier like that.
[Action]
I can make us some tea if you want. That ought to help, if only a little.
[Once that's done, he lets Hisoka shoo him out of the room and all the way over to his own.]
[Action]
[He wants Tsuzuki. And Tsuzuki's taking too long so he'll just head on ahead and be curled up on top of his partner's mattress by the time Tsuzuki's been properly shooed. When Tsuzuki enters, he extends a wing expectantly. Physical contact may commence.]
[Action]
[Besides, he knows how badly it can feel to lose someone. That need for reassurance is very strong. He can't very well turn Hisoka's silent request down when he knows how lonely it feels. He gently takes his wings into his hands, stroking the feathers back into place.]
I can make something else.
[Action]
[He's even going to try and make it easier for Tsuzuki to handle.]
You can. You know. Be closer. If you want.
[Action]
[He scoots a little bit closer, resting his back against the headboard. It gives Hisoka a chance to rest his head on his lap, if he wants. Tsuzuki strokes his hair once, before returning the hand to his wing.]
What do you mean?
[Action]
[He leans down until his head sinks into his partner's lap. Of course it's complicated, but it's also reassuring. When everyone's against him, Tsuzuki's on his side. It's supposed to stay that way. Exactly here, in this space where they can be close without being too close.]
[Action]
[Sighing softly as he relaxes, he strokes Hisoka's hair and then his wing again. Tsuzuki won't leave Hisoka, no matter how complicated their situation is. They're partners, and whatever happens in Luceti won't change that.
It's been a while since they've sat like this, and Tsuzuki realizes he's missed it. The moment is sweet in a way that's both intimate and vaguely disappointing at the same time. He tries to think about something else, like focusing on the sensation of feathers under his fingertips, and the warmth coming from his partner. As long as he doesn't think about needing him, he ought to be in the clear.]
That's good.
[Action]
I'm not going back out there anytime soon. ...Do you have anyplace to be today? [It's still the middle of the afternoon, but he's terrible at staying awake for very long when there was wing-interaction happening.]
[Action]
[Tsuzuki's missed this too, if he's honest with himself. It simply sucks that Hisoka had to go through Draco withdrawal to want to spend time with him again. It would have felt better if Hisoka had reached the conclusion on his own, simply because he wanted to spend time with him.]
[Tsuzuki adjusts the way he sits, just so he can slouch more and reach the wings even better. It's a huge show of trust for Hisoka to let him play with them, and he appreciates that. Besides, it's good to feel useful, even if he's not happy.]
No, not for a while. Just relax.
[Action]
[And that's all he says, settling down and sinking limply into Tsuzuki's warmth. It's better this way. Uncomplicated. Just two partners relaxing together in a way only partners can.
And maybe if they have more moments like these, some of Tsuzuki's happiness will come back eventually.]
[Action]
It occurs to him that they're very lucky. Other partners have far worse problems than what they do. Wakaba and Terazuma can't even touch each other. Tsuzuki pets Hisoka's wings, feeling calm and centered.]
...What do you think Draco lost?
[It's so weird. With Sheik it had been obvious that his voice had been taken as payment. Draco, for all intents and purposes, looked the same as when he left.]
[Action]
[His wings puff up in reply. He's trying not to think about Draco right now.]
[Action]
[Hisoka might be angry, but if he listens to Tsuzuki's emotional state he will be met with warm acceptance. Not just acceptance of him as a person, but an acceptance that extends to Draco, too.]
Did you feel anything different coming from him?
