Fortieth Hex - [Written/Action]

[When he first opens his eyes, he's immediately blinded by the sunlight and he hisses loudly, rolling over in the dirt to shield his eyes. He doesn't move for a moment, barely bothering to take in what was going on. It was obvious he was back. His clothes were still torn and disgusting from the last draft, and he had a few dried scabs on his arms, but otherwise...he seemed fine.

Sitting up, he gropes around the area for his journal to check the date.

Shit. Just how long was death supposed to last in this place? He supposed it wasn't too entirely unusual, considering how long Arumat was gone when he had been murdered. He adjusts himself on the ground, shifting the way he's sitting and reaching in his pocket for a pen. The writing is scratchy and scrawled, but the words are legible.]

So that's what it's like.

[He doesn't care. He doesn't care to read through everything and find out what he's missed. He's on his feet and carefully walking toward house 25, already knowing that Tsuzuki and Hisoka were waiting for him and most likely could kill him again for being dead for so long.

The thing was, however, was that he couldn't figure it out. He couldn't seem to wrap his mind around what he's lost as a penalty. Maybe he got lucky and they didn't take anything at all. That would be nice, wouldn't it? But it seemed highly unlikely, especially considering the nagging in the back of his mind that something was missing. He'd just have to work it out later.

Hmm...hello house 26. You seem awfully familiar, and not in the way that it was the house some of Draco's friends live in now. He used to spend a lot of time in that house, didn't he?

No. Maybe not. He couldn't imagine why he would...must be mistaken.

It isn't until he's almost at his front door that he takes his journal again, scrawling out a few more words.]

...am I the last one to come back then? Suppose they really do save the best for the end.

[His wand's out faster than Hisoka can blink and may already be sparking at the tip.]

[He rises from his seat, a protective bubble tangibly raising out from his shelf. Do you really want to do this, Draco? This would be one of those things that are hard to take back later.]

[It's either that or a punch in the face. Take your pick. This is such bullshit, you have no idea bro. He takes a few steps closer to the bookcase, wand still at the ready.]

[That's fine. He'll run into the bubble in another few inches. Do it or quit bluffing.]

[Sending a small bit of Incendio at that first bookcase then, just to test this out.]

[It'll strike the barrier and bounce away, landing neatly in a trash bin.

Hisoka will be audibly chanting now to strengthen it because what the hell are you doing, Malfoy??

[Nope. Fuck you. Draco's pissed, so have Incendio at its full strength, a large amount of fire flying from his wand.]

[The fact that they aren't yelling at each other was alarming enough. When Tsuzuki smells smoke he knows there is trouble.]

[He can't very well not check up on them when it's gotten to that, so Tsuzuki knocks impatiently once on the door before he walks in.]

What are you doing?

[Can't talk right now. Chanting. Repelling fire magic that strong requires a whole mess of focus.

Tsuzuki will probably walk in on the fireball striking Hisoka's barrier and, failing to penetrate that, slamming into a wall of their very wooden house.

Sure there's a fire spreading terrible, but the books are safe.]

[Frustration is not a pretty look for Draco, so he's throwing another ball of flames. That, too, will probably ricochet and hit the other wall instead.

At least they'll be nice and toasty now.]

[Okay, that's it. He has tolerated a lot from them over the years but actively torching a house that has animals in it is too much. Tsuzuki does the stupidest thing possible, moving between Draco and Hisoka, reaching one hand out to see how solid his partner's shield is.]

[Great, the walls are on fire. This is bound to turn out well.]
